I’m sorry to break it to you, but summer is over. Yeap, sorry girl. But do you know what!? …that’s okay! …because Autumn/Winter is here and it’s time to get loving layers, deep rich colours and luxe materials.
So light that cinnamon candle, fix up a lovely hot drink, draw the curtains, grab that snuggly blanket and let’s delve into a few awesome finds I’ve discovered at Intu Milton Keynes for the new season.
Last week Intu challenged me and a few other lovely local bloggers with a series of tasks. We had tasks tailored to each one of us to mix things up a little bit!
“One of this season’s latest trends is velvet. Think gorgeous deep colours and beautiful draping and you’ve nailed it! Your first task is to head to New Look, H&M and TopShop to find the perfect outfit for a night out with the girls.”
New Look was totally “on it” when it came to this trend and they had a plethora of pieces for you to choose from. If this is your trend this season, I’d highly recommend heading straight there! Dresses, tops, bodies and even accessories have been created with this beautiful material. Here’s a little sneak peek at what you’ll find in-store right now…
I decided to try on a couple of the beautiful velvet dresses in my hunt to find the perfect girls’ night out outfit. These dresses were so comfortable to wear and would look great paired together with some chunky heels and a leather jacket for an edgy look. Or, if you don’t want to go all out in velvet styling, you could just try a velvet choker or backpack (as seen above!).
Here’s a couple of selfies for ya!!
This beautiful little number comes in at £29.99 and plays on the choker trend with a choker-look neck band (which is very comfortable against your neck BTW!). This print is stunning and will definitely serve you well for nights out and dare I say “festive” meals as we go deeper into winter time.
The second dress I tried on was this black ditsy floral print velvet dress, which is priced at £24.99. This was my favourite of the two, as I loved the way it fitted my body. At first I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but it looks so flattering once on, I fell in love – so much so that I went back to the store at the weekend and bought it! This looks perfect with a choker necklace, add some fab chunky boots and a leather-look bag and you’re ready to go.
Now for task two…
“Lush is known for their love of good, natural ingredients to make gorgeous homemade cosmetics. Your second task is to head into Lush and find the perfect winter bath bomb and the perfect winter hair care to combat the cold weather.”
I absolutely love Lush, not only do they create beautiful products that smell divine, but they’re also not afraid to shout about animal cruelty issues and highlight the unnecessary use of animal testing in the beauty world – and for that I highly commend them!
Now there’s nothing better than a soothing hot bath to warm you up on the colder days is there!? Follow that by snuggling into your PJs for the evening, sofa time, a hot chocolate and life truly is complete.
For the most comforting winter bath this year, I’d highly recommend trying the Twilight bath bomb (£3.75 from Lush). I picked out this particular one for the challenge as it includes delightful ingredients such as lavender, which is widely known for its calming and relaxing properties. A perfect ending to a stressful working day or a great way to relax your body after day of shopping til’ you drop at Intu Milton Keynes!
I just had to take this bath bomb home with me and give it a whirl myself to show you exactly what it’s like. As you can see, from the outside it’s a pink ball of cuteness! Covered with stars and moons!
A sweet yet comforting aroma fills your bathroom as Twilight fizzes around your bath, making the water look like a beautiful pink and blue galaxy. The water turns into a stunning shimmery deep purple colour – it’s totally on trend for Autumn/Winter! It was so relaxing to use and felt so lovely and silky against my skin – I love it!
In winter time, our hair can go through a lot of rough and tumble – tying it up in high winds, blow drying and styling for parties, heating drying it out… Thankfully, those awesome people at Lush have come up with a fab little stick of loveliness for our hair. The “damaged” hot oil treatment stick! (£6.50 from Lush). You simply stir the product slowly in hot water to create a lovely creamy product. I’d never spotted these before the other day, so I’m pleased a sales assistant pointed this product out to me. I’m yet to give this a go, but I’m very excited to try it out on my long locks!
It was so much fun taking part in the #intuMKblogger challenge! I can’t thank them enough for the fun opportunity and the beautiful goodie bag they gave me – thank you Intu!
