Nestled in the countryside, just outside of Leighton Buzzard is a fun and challenging experience and certainly one you won’t forget in a hurry.
It’s called “Don’t Get Locked In” …a brand new escape room experience set in the war torn 1940s. As you step into the room (named “The Secret Hut”), you are transported back in time. Think typewriters, various equipment, papers to sift through and decipher to see if they aid in your quest…whilst an of-era radio plays very apt songs of the time in the corner of the room. It’s quite fantastic!
I’d heard so much about escape rooms lately, but was yet to try one until I was invited down to Don’t Get Locked In, Leighton Buzzard. I absolutely loved it. I had no idea what to expect at first, but as you go along during the challenge, you start to think more creatively to understand and solve the challenge.
You have one hour to solve the challenge. If you get super stuck during the challenge, there is a tablet on the wall to allow you to receive helpful clues – this will also show you how much time is remaining. There are prizes for the teams that use fewer clues too! If you’re really clever and hardly use any clues and manage to get out in time, you could end up with a bottle of bubbly!
It was so much fun completing this challenge, we were running about the room trying to figure out the next clue! What could it mean? What could it relate to? Can we open this drawer?
It was so fun to take part in this with some lovely local bloggers from the Milton Keynes area. Lisahh-Jayne – www.lisahh-jayne.co.uk, Charlotte from Bonvoychar – www.bonvoychar.com & Keri from Try Everything Once – www.tryeverythingonce.co.uk
So…did we get out?
…alas, we did not. However, we were literally seconds away from getting out before our time was up! We were so close!
Yes…we did need a clue or two to help us along, but it was such a fun experience and not like anything else I have ever done before. I’d recommend it to anyone – it’s just great to do something a little different for once and really challenge yourself and your mind.
I have to give a shout out to Cathy, the lady who runs the experience who is SO lovely! Thank you ever so much for inviting us down. Here’s a photo of her and her family…
Up for the challenge? Head on over to the Don’t Get Locked In website – www.dontgetlockedin.com – to find out more and to book your session. You can have up to 6 people in your session, so it’s great for families, friends or team building. Do it! You’ll have such a laugh!
