Milton Keynes Blogger Network Summer Social

The table at the Milton Keynes Blogger Network lunch, featuring my lemonade, a lovely succulent plant and a jug of juice

The sun may have made a little bit of a disappearance at the moment, and the rain might be here to give everything a refresh…but that didn’t stop us from lunching at the MK Blogger Network Summer Social yesterday!

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while, you may have seen me write about the Milton Keynes Blogger Network meetups before. (You can read about the first one *here* and our recent trip to The Goldsmithy, a local handcrafted jewellery business *here*.) Yesterday was our latest get together and it was all about enjoying a gorgeous lunch at The Wheatsheaf in Bow Brickhill, a village found just outside of Milton Keynes.

I’d never visited The Wheatsheaf before, but it was lovely. I particularly liked the way in which they had styled the place inside. Herringbone tiling, a wooden planter on the wall filled with gorgeous plants, succulents on the table, copper salt and pepper pots…it made me want to go home accessory shopping! The staff were all lovely and made us feel at home and ensured we had everything needed.

The food? Sooo good! I opted for the artichoke and spinach soup, which certainly surpassed my expectations. Don’t let the green colour put you off, as this is one super tasty soup. It was served with a little bit of bread to dip in too. I’d happily choose to have this soup again.

For the main I had the vegan burger which was crafted with beetroot and apple, topped with basil mayo and surrounded by a lovely soft bun. This was paired with skinny fries (loved the seasoning on these!) and completed with a pot of sweetcorn slaw. The burger was deceptively filling, so I couldn’t finish it, but it was all so yummy. I think about 80% of us chose the exact same food, but I think we all chose well.

Drink wise I had a Franklin & Sons lemonade, which I’d never tried before, but was so yummy and refreshing. It’s not just your bog standard lemonade either, it’s made with Sicilian lemonade, English elderflower and crushed juniper. Ooh la la! We were also well catered for drinks wise on the table too – we had iced water garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit, a selection of mocktails and also a jug of tequila sunrise (one of my fave cocktails!). We certainly didn’t go without that’s for sure!

It was just so lovely to catch up with everyone, new faces & old! I really can’t wait for our next meetup. There’s already some fun plans in the pipeline, so if you’re a blogger local to Milton Keynes, why not join us? Search for Milton Keynes Blogger Network on Facebook to find our group and come say hello.

I have to say a huge thank you to Sophie from Sophie’s Suitcase (who runs the MK Blogger Network) for setting up all our meetups. Thank you!!

And also a big thank you to the team at The Wheatsheaf Bow Brickhill for playing host to our meetup. The food, drink and venue were all so lovely. I really enjoyed my first visit to The Wheatsheaf and will certainly head back for another meal very soon.

It was great to hear that The Wheatsheaf also have a private dining area and can also be a venue for weddings, birthdays and so much more! So if you’re looking for somewhere lovely to dine or celebrate, do head over to their website at www.wheatsheafbowbrickhill.com to find out more.
