Did you know? That this blog is not my first.
Back when I was studying Fashion Marketing at Northampton University, I ran a purely fashion based blog. I closed it down to focus on studying (and partying)… but for years after, I longed for a creative outlet once again… so here I am!
I’ve been wanting to add a little more fashion to this blog lately, so to kick things off, here’s a little roundup of all the bag trends I’m loving right now. Hopefully this will give you a little inspo if you’re on the hunt for a new bag right now.
I’ve shared a few of my favourites, along with their links – and I’ve also provided you with “steal” and “splurge” options in case you’re in full on saving mode or fancy a little bit of a treat this season.
Before we get started though, I just want to let you know about a great place to keep up-to-date with all things bags, which is the bag news page on the Vogue website.
There’s sooo many interesting articles on there, talking about subjects such as the evolution of the ever-popular basket bag, right through to write-ups on the latest launches. It’s a really nice place to lose yourself for a little while… so do grab a cuppa, pop on over and enjoy a little read!
It’s everywhere, and I love it! You could be wearing a pretty standard all-black outfit… pop one of these by your side, and you will stand out straight away. It’s fun and can work with such a variety of outfits.
As you browse the shops, you’ll notice punchy bright leopard prints, some even in different colours and some that are a little more toned down. So there’s certainly a leopard print for everyone out there right now.
The one pictured above is from New Look and comes in at just £19.99, amazing. When I shared this on my Instagram stories the other week I had so many people messaging me saying how much they loved the look of it. This really is a high street hit right now, so if you love it, I’d snap it up before it goes.
Alternatively, Karen Millen have a lush drawstring style leopard print handbag (£210), which is very chic and looks like it would make a great grab and go bag for work. This bag plays on the more browner tones of leopard print, rather than yellows, making it perfect for those of you who prefer more neutral shades in your wardrobe.
If you fancy investing a little more into the leopard print trend, which, after all, seems to make a come back year after year! This classic little YSL number (£1,190) looks great with its slightly more muted style leopard print. Very classy. Pair this up with an understated outfit to let the bag shine and just watch those Instagram likes roll in…
The new season has arrived, and naturally we’re seeing an influx of jewelled tones. Deep reds, dark emerald greens… send them all my way please!
When I was blogging for intu Milton Keynes recently, I spotted this deep burgundy coloured suedette handbag (which can be worn across the body or held with the handle) in New Look. It’s the same shape as the leopard print one above (£19.99). Again, such a lovely everyday bag and just the perfect colour for autumn. I’m not a huge lipstick person, but I can imagine someone pairing this up with a gorgeous similar coloured lippy and looking pretty damn awesome.
Moving onto the green tones, I just had to share this Matt & Nat Vintage Collection Kate circle shaped bag (£98). It’s great to see a vegan non-leather option available at John Lewis and this emerald green circle bag is just gorgeous. I love its little handles too. Beautiful.
How about a splash of Navy? With this Kurt Geiger Kensington Tweed bag (£129), you can enjoy adding a little texture into your AW18 wardrobe as well as deep colour. I love its sumptuous quilted fabric and contrasting metal hardware, which picks up the flecks in the tweed. The metal eagle on the front looks so cool too!
Mustard & Satchel Bags
If you’re hankering after a pop of colour this autumn/winter, mustard is your friend. Outfit wise, you can really play around with the pairings with this colour… think browns, navy, you can never go wrong with black… if you’re a little bit 70s with your styling, this bag will feel right at home with your wardrobe.
You’ll notice that there’s a strong satchel vibe coming through right now too. In every colour!
The little bag pictured above, is another from my affordable high street favourite, New Look …but it’s not online right now, so I can’t tell you exactly how much it is. But let’s face it, it’s sure to be another steal isn’t it.
For a little bit more of a treat, how about the Joan small suede-paneled textured-leather shoulder bag by Chloé (£370). Again, another cute satchel style, which will look great with a multitude of outfits and will be great for work as well as play.
If satchels aren’t your thing, how about treating yourself to this Mulberry Wilton small leather tote style bag (£1,050). I’m loving the buckle style strap and the open top style, don’t worry, it has a handy suede zipped pouch inside for your valuables.
I’ve always been drawn to things that are a little bit quirky, and one cool trend that has stuck around for a good few months now, is the bucket bag. You’ve got to love a bag that looks cute…but also has a little twist to it.
The one pictured above is by Faith and is available to buy from Debenhams, and it’s in the sale right now for just £31.20. So don’t miss out on this bargain if you love the look of it. I love the stud detailing on this.
Keeping with the rich tones of autumn, I’m also liking this bucket bag by Zara (£39.99). Such a gorgeous and classic shade of red, a shade that will take you through year after year and season after season.
If this one’s not for you, then how about this Trademark small croc-effect leather bucket bag (£275) ..hello deep shade of green. This is such an understatedly cool bag. One that’ll leave you looking truly “put together” I think, especially when paired with tailored outfit.
